Company receives CNSS serial numbers for its PoE-enabled IP phones

MUKILTEO, Wash., Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Teo (http://www.teotech.com), an innovative telecommunications company, formerly known as Tone Commander Systems, announced today that it received formal letters of approval and CNSS serial numbers for its newest TSG-6 Power over Ethernet (PoE)-enabled IP phone models. These models were tested and approved by the National Telephone Security Working Group (NTSWG) last June.

Both models include 802.3af PoE support and a built-in switched Ethernet port, which allows a single copper network connection to support both a PC and phone, thus avoiding the need for a cabling upgrade. The U.S.-manufactured phones are industry-standard SIP compliant and have been deployed on numerous SIP-compatible systems including Cisco, Avaya, Asterisk, Redcom, Alcatel and Edge Access, as well as many others.

The Teo 7810PoE-TSGA is TSG-6 Class A certified and may be used in Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) areas without any other equipment restrictions. The less expensive 7810PoE-TSGB is TSG-6 Class B certified and may only be used in applications where the network switching device is collocated within the same protected area as the telephone.

"These new certifications bolster Teo's reputation as a leading provider of highly secure, government-grade communications systems," said Steve Hill, president of Teo. "We're proud to continue to offer the industry the largest range of TSG-6 approved telephone equipment on the market today."

Teo was the first manufacturer to receive TSG-6 certification for an IP phone and was also the first to receive CNSS Class A certification for a PoE-enabled phone. The company has three different CNSS approved IP phone models. Other Teo/Tone Commander TSG-6 products include the industry's only certified TSG-6 ISDN phones and TSG-6 NT1 ISDN Network Terminations.

Detailed product information and CNSS Letters of Approval may be downloaded at www.teotech.com/solutions/tsg-6.

Pricing and availability

Network World - Cisco this week is rolling out two lines of Catalyst Ethernet switches in compact form factors intended for deployment in work-groups closer to users than the wiring closets.

The Catalyst 3560-C and 2960-C Compact Series (C-Series) switches are designed to extend connectivity to IT deployments outside of the wiring closet -- customer check-outs, kiosks, warehouses, conference rooms, classrooms, hotel rooms, cruise ship cabins, gaming floors and other space- and wiring-constrained networking environments.

IN DEPTH: Gigabit choke points

Cisco says this market is about $1 billion and is being under served by low-end, commodity switches. The C-series are "enterprise-class," and carry all the features of the higher-end Catalyst 3560 and 2960 switches, but in a compact form factor, says Rob Soderbery, senior vice president and general manager, Ethernet Switching Technology Group at Cisco.

So the C-series will compete with both low-end commodity switches and enterprise-class compact switches from Cisco's traditional competitors in the enterprise and SMB switch market -- HP, Adtran, Netgear, D-Link, etc.

The switches are comprised of five models. They sport eight to 12 Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet ports and two Gigabit Ethernet uplinks. They also include hardware acceleration for IPv6, IP multicast and access control lists.

The switches feature what Cisco calls Power over Ethernet (PoE) pass-through, a capability that allows the products to draw 30 watts/port of power from PoE switches deeper in the network -- like in the wiring closets -- and not require dedicated power outlets or power supplies. The switches are also designed to reduce cabling costs by eliminating the need for individual cable drops from the wiring closet to far-flung network endpoints.

The switches can be deployed up to 100 meters away from the wiring closet, Cisco says. They are fanless, and can be placed on or mounted underneath desktops and countertops or on a wall.

COMPANY PROFILE: Cisco eschews cloud services -- for now

For security, the switches support Cisco's TrustSec technology, which determines, through policies, the role of users and devices in the network before granting access to resources. The C-Series switches are also PCI compliant, Cisco says, for regulatory compliance of payment transactions.

The switches encrypt all packets between the switch and the end device, and malicious users can be blocked from eavesdropping on the conversation between two endpoints, Cisco says. The switches also come with an optional security lock and cable guard to prevent theft of the switch and unauthorized access to the cables. The C-Series switches also feature tools for simplified configuration and management, and QoS implementation for IP telephony and video. The switches can be remotely managed along with the switches in the wiring closet, Cisco says.

They also support Cisco's EnergyWise software for monitoring and managing energy consumption of the devices connected to the switch. EnergyWise turns off or powers down devices when they are not needed.

Pricing for the C-series ranges from $745 to $1,995. They will be available in March.

Several large California Wineries are using the Versa Technologies VX-VEB160r2 http://www.versatek.com/products/ethernet_extender.htm Ethernet Extender to provide up to the minute weather conditions on their vast properties. These conditions can often be different at the various locations.

The Ethernet Extenders allow the vinters to monitor the changing weather conditions and add protective coverings for the grapes if need be. Or they can remove protective coverings and allow the grapes to receive unlimited sun. Many of these locations are many acres from the main barn on the facilities. Furthermore, many of the remote locations are at different altitudes.

Ethernet Extension is becoming more popular in the agricultural sector as weather sensor equipment has become more dependable and less expensive. The remote weather sensors are solar powered with Category 5 or Category 3 wiring sending the data.

Did you know that the maximum length of a conventional ethernet cable is merely 100 meters? If you did not, now you do. But then the question remains: isn't 100 meters long enough already?

While it is true that a 100 meters worth of ethernet cable is quite enough for a conventional household, how about a hotel or a manufacturing site with an office block on it? How would they share the same internet connection without needing to apply for a whole different internet connection line? With an ethernet extender, of course.

Versatek's ethernet extender is one of the hottest-selling product over here and that is because, with our long distance ethernet extender, a mere 100 meter reach can be stretched right up to 4 miles. Yes, it is an interesting and incredible fiber optics technology development here.

What makes our ethernet extender so popular with our customers is that it completely eliminates the need for rewiring, messy, lengthy and costly installation of new switches. But more importantly, with Versatek's ethernet extender, you are basically saving yourself a whole bunch of money because there is no need for usage of expensive fiber either. Ours works, if not better, just as well.

Our ethernet extenders are perfect solutions for large corporations – we're talking about hotels and large international corporations – because the ethernet extender can be used to connect more than just two computers. Versatek's ethernet extender is famous for its ability to make available the same internet connection for a large number of computers. If you don't get what that means, just imagine a hotel. Every room in the hotel room using the same internet connection.

Does it slowdown the browsing process? Not at all. Versatek's Ethernet Extenders are built in such a way that it does not hamper downloading and uploading of information via the internet. In fact, it is ideal for providing video-on-demand and multimedia services for condominiums and apartments too.

Lucky for you, Versatek's got a whole range of ethernet extenders to suit your needs. Don't know what you need? All you need to do is to pick up the phone and give the friendly Versatek customer service representatives a call right now and we will help you pick the right one.

If one were to install a web cam at the gate of one's house, one can only imagine the kind of trouble it would entail. To wire all the way to the gate. It would not be over the top to say that it may take up a month or more just to get the web cam installed if you are dependent on electricians and carpenters and etc. With the power of technology – more specifically, Power Over Ethernet – installing a web cam at the gate can be done within a few minutes and getting it a link and a power source a breeze.

For those who are unclear about what Power Over Ethernet or POE, is all about, here's a short explanation. For any questions about the power of POE, head on over to the pro’s at Versa info@versatek.com and ask a few questions and you will get your answer in a jiffy. In short, POE is a kind of technology that is used to power IP telephones, wireless LAN, cameras, etc. POE technology is often applied in replacement of USB ports and where setting up AC power is cumbersome and expensive. Compared to hiring an electrician to set up the whole wiring system, buying a POE system is considered by a many, the better, easier and cheaper alternative.

POE is also far more effective in the long run because you can literally manage energy better, there is less energy wastage and on top of that, it prevents surges. While restructuring a building or house's wiring system may prove to be a costly endeavor, it's simpler with the POE system.

How will this affect your everyday life? Simple. Take, for example, Versatek's VX-PI100EX. The said POE system makes long distance POE IP surveillance set-up a complete breeze. Not only is it a fast and affordable solution for long distance web cam installation, it is totally flexible too for other applications such as installing wireless access points and etc.

If you take a closer look at the VX-PI100EX system, it has the ability to forward both Ethernet data and POE power to a web cam located at the gate of a home or pretty much anywhere you want within Ethernet cable ranges. Want to go further? Done deal, there are also POE extenders for this purpose.

Of course, one of the biggest perks about using the system is that there is absolutely no need for an external power cable. Because it is compact and light-weight, Versatek's POE system can be mounted onto a wall and has become increasingly popular the world over.

This product is tried, tested and true. Living outside of the United States? Not a problem, the product can be shipped to just about any country in the world.

Give it a shot and you will see what we are talking about, its inexpensive to try, easy to use and solidly designed to just work perfectly.

Last year, when Google changed its Maps Navigation system for Android phone, it sent people scrambling for a smart phone. Navigating oneself in a strange city with people of different ethnic backgrounds speaking in unknown languages will no longer be a problem with something like that. The biggest draw is, of course, not that. It is in the fact that the Google Map for Android phone service is....FREE!

When something is free, people scramble for it, leaving behind a trail of sullen-faced competitors. One big example would be Verizon.

Healthy competition is always a good thing for the consumers because it ensures quality products and services at affordable prices. Paying consumers deserves, at least, that. Companies like Verizon will now have to think of new ways to bring their dollars back. And they have.

In their latest bid to bring back their customers, Verizon launched a new worth-paying-for tool which integrates facebook update. With it, you can actually update your friends about where you are with a flick of your finger: welcome to the world, VZ Navigator. As we all know, people are absolutely crazy about informing their family and friends about where they are at and what they are doing, on online social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

It sounds crazy to others who are less tech-y but if you looked at it carefully, you might find some good in that.

With services like Google Maps and VZ Navigator, you can easily get help online if you wanted to, by simply updating your status. $9.99 a month is not too much to pay if you could get THAT kind of help. Another great use of location-based service is where you can get LIVE traffic reports so that you can better manage your time and travel routes.

Verizon's version is supposedly aimed at enhancing places of interest in their maps based on updates from other users.

Verizon is not the only company looking to launch located-based services – Yahoo and Nokia have something in the pipeline as well.

The VZ Navigator is available for only a limited number of cell phone models at this point in time, which includes BlackBerry, LG Touch, HTC Touch Pro2, and Omnia for Samsung. We are pretty sure that as soon as more people learn to appreciate (and pay for) the service, it will be made available to other cell phone models as well.

Chino, CA August 3rd, 2009 -- Versa Technology (www.versatek.com), a leading provider of last mile communications including Ethernet Switches, DSLAM's, Ethernet Extenders has release a brand new Gigabit PoE injector. The VX-1000GB is among the very first Gigabit Power over Ethernet injectors to be release in North America this year. The VX-Pi1000GB will allow all wireless access points to reach their full bandwidth potential including the new 802.11N wireless standard.

The VX-Pi1000GB is an IEEE 802.3af spec Power over Ethernet Injector which provides DC 48V over Ethernet cables. The VX-Pi1000GB IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet Injector inserts DC Voltage into Cat.5 cable, allowing the cable between the Injector (VX-Pi1000GB) and Splitter to transfer data and power simultaneously. The maximum distance between the Injector (VX-Pi1000GB) and Splitter is 100 meters. With VX-Pi1000GB being installed, it combines the Ethernet digital data with power over the twisted pair cables as an IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet Injector. And the IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet splitter shall separate the digital data and the power into two outputs.

One problem a lot of companies are having now is the new addition of Wireless N products and the fact that it requires a gigabit connection. Most Power over Ethernet injector’s do not provide Gigabi, including the VX-Pi100 currently sold in the thousands by Versa monthly provides only 100Mb.

Well Versa Technology has heard the demand and we have answered this call with the VX-Pi1000GB.

Unlike most existing Power over Ethernet Injector, the VX-Pi1000GB also provides 1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet connection ability, as well as the 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet connection ability.

With IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet devices installed, the system administrator only has to use a single RJ-45 Ethernet cable to carry both power and data to each device. Besides, to connect through VX-Pi1000GB, you could also have benefits which includes cost saving, easy for networking planning and higher reliability. Upon any IEEE 802.3af devices installed, the VX-Pi1000GB or together with splitter can make the connection while migrating or splitting the power and the Ethernet digital packets, such as connecting the VX-Pi1000GB to an IEEE 802.3af compliant devices, AP or IP phone.

Key Features

• Complies with IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet, IEEE 802.3/802.3u/802.3ab 10/100/1000Base-T
• Provides DC 48V power over RJ-45 Ethernet cable to device with Ethernet port
• LED indicators power input indication
• Distance up to 100 meters
• Auto-detect of POE IEEE 802.3af equipment and devices from being damaged by incorrect installation
• Works with EIA568, category 5, 5e or 6 ,2/4-pair cables for 10Base-T or 100Base-TX & 1000Base-T
• EMI standards complies with FCC, CE class B
