The VX-1000GB is among the very first Gigabit Power over Ethernet injectors to be release in North America this year. The VX-Pi1000GB will allow all wireless access points to reach their full bandwidth potential including the new 802.11N wireless standard.

The VX-Pi1000GB is an IEEE 802.3af spec Power over Ethernet Injector which provides DC 48V over Ethernet cables. The VX-Pi1000GB IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet Injector inserts DC Voltage into Cat.5 cable, allowing the cable between the Injector (VX-Pi1000GB) and Splitter to transfer data and power simultaneously. The maximum distance between the Injector (VX-Pi1000GB) and Splitter is 100 meters. With VX-Pi1000GB being installed, it combines the Ethernet digital data with power over the twisted pair cables as an IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet Injector. And the IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet splitter shall separate the digital data and the power into two outputs.

One problem a lot of companies are having now is the new addition of Wireless N products and the fact that it requires a gigabit connection. Most Power over Ethernet injector’s do not provide Gigabi, including the VX-Pi100 currently sold in the thousands by Versa monthly provides only 100Mb.

Unlike most existing Power over Ethernet Injector, the VX-Pi1000GB also provides 1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet connection ability, as well as the 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet connection ability.

With IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet devices installed, the system administrator only has to use a single RJ-45 Ethernet cable to carry both power and data to each device. Besides, to connect through VX-Pi1000GB, you could also have benefits which includes cost saving, easy for networking planning and higher reliability. Upon any IEEE 802.3af devices installed, the VX-Pi1000GB or together with splitter can make the connection while migrating or splitting the power and the Ethernet digital packets, such as connecting the VX-Pi1000GB to an IEEE 802.3af compliant devices, AP or IP phone.

What is 802.3af Power over Ethernet?
