I have been monitoring the system and noticed that one of my ports is displaying “Idle” as a status. What does this mean?

An idle status indicates that there was a device previously working on the line but it has either been powered off or disconnected from the line. The DSLAM will perform a status check on all ports by sending a signal downstream to check for devices. If a device has been found, the unit will also attempt to keep the connection alive. If no device has been found, a Handshake status will display for that port.
